230 CAMPS

The squadron holds numerous camps throughout the year involving different activities and settings including RAF stations, Activity Weekends, Inter squadron Weekends and many more.

Some of the camps unique to 230 squadron are:

RAF Aldergrove Northern Ireland

This is by far one of the best annual camps offered by the squadron which is reflected by the amount of cadets always pushing for the limited places. Normally taking place over 4 days in late November early December this camp offers the chance to fly in a helicopter although this depends on the situation. Also on offer are sports, shooting, squadron visits and social events along with the chance to meet and talk to those already in the RAF learning about what they do.

RAF Valley Anglesey , Wales

This is a fairly new annual camp offered by the squadron usually taking place over the October half term weekend. This is another action packed 4 days with visits to the fast jet training squadrons, search and rescue squadrons with a chance of flying, beach sports, go karting, and again the chance to find out what it is like to be in the RAF.

We do have one off special visits to RAF stations throughout the year including in past years RAF Brize Norton and RAF Odiham.

Activity Weekends

These can take place in various locations such as Hafford Gwynlian in Wales , Barnswood and even just at the squadron. These weekends are great fun and definitely worth attending as they involve such a vast amount of activities. Some of the activities included are:

Canoeing

Climbing & Abseiling

Rafting

Mountain Biking

Leadership Exercises

Orienteering

Confident Courses

Bridge Building

Hiking Expeditions

We also integrate these weekends with inter squadron competition weekends inviting both local and associated squadrons to our squadron challenging them to the activities chosen. These weekends give the cadets the chance to make new friends and enjoy themselves at the same time as having a bit of friendly rivalry.
